Fall 2018 Promotion: Fairfield County, Connecticut

I believe we have lost touch with making prints of our family images. Most of our photos are digital copies which are trapped on our phones, computers and yes facebooks. When I was a child we would have all our images printed and then put into albums; we have physical proof of our family's childhood memories. Most of us have hard copies of the photographs from of our childhood for our future generations to see, physically touch and hold, but the next generation has their childhood backed up on google drive or facebook.

For my niece's generation to show them a photo of when they were baby's we pull out our phones and look at our facebook albums. We don't have the actual physical copies of their childhood images and we could lose them if we were to lose our phones or if Facebook were to suddenly disappear one day.

I believe prints matter, so for the month of August when you purchase a collection featuring digital files, you’ll also receive the corresponding 4x6 print - absolutely FREE

What is a Fresh 48 session? Wilton, Ct Photographer

If you are a parent, I am sure one of the days in your life you remember vividly is the day your children were born.

It is both a joyous and happy time in your life. You are in pure bliss state of mind, and you are trying to take it all in and not forget this special time in your life.

What is a Fresh 48 session?

A Fresh 48 is a session takes place within the first 48 hours of your baby's life. This session focuses on your newborn baby and your family as a whole. The first couple days of welcoming your baby into the world can feel like such a blur with such happy and important memories taking place in such a short period of time. This will be one of your favorite days of your life and I want you to have images from this time to remember. The session typically takes place in the hospital, home, birthing center and is up to 60 minutes long.

What do you photograph?

I photograph your newest addition and your family. I focus on the baby for the first half of the session photographing the little details of your baby such as

  • the hospital hats/blankets your child is wearing or wrapped up within
  • the hospital bracelets on their tiny ankles
  • their tiny wrinkly toes and fingers
  • the baby in the hospital bassinet

I then add mom, dad and any siblings to the frame, focusing on the connection that you have with for your bundle of joy. I find it is essential to capture mom and dad with their newborn; it is a gift you are giving yourself and your baby for the future. They will have the ability to look back on the day they were born and see the love you had for them. Some moments that happen within your baby's first few hours of being born are moments you can not recreate again.

  • your oldest children meeting your newborn for the first time
  • introduction to family members
  • the tight embrace or kiss you give your newborn that you've waited 9 months to do
  • mom/dad's first diaper change
  • going home from the hospital

Why should we choose to book a Fresh 48 session?

I think it is a very important memory to have for not only yourselves, but your children to look back on. There will days where you wish they would get bigger, but you soon will discover that time goes by much faster than we plan and one day in the not so distant future you will want to turn back time to these days. The days are long, but the years are short. Before you know it you soon will be preparing yourself for your baby's first birthday. Be sure to cherish all of the newborn days including the rough days where you find yourself wishing for a full nights sleep.

Kendra Conroy Photography is now offering Fresh 48 sessions. Are you interested in learning more about Fresh 48 sessions? Feel free to send an email to me.

Spring Recap: Newtown, Ct Family Photographer

What have you missed this Spring? It certainly has been a busy season and I am always so fortunate to have such awesome clients. While I cannot simply share every image from this spring, I'd love to share a few!

Recently I have created a personalized style guide for my clients. When you book a session with me you will recieve both a style guide and a client guide. The style guide provides both photos and links of what to wear for your session, helping you dress both stylish and comfortable. Both guides will prepare you for your session and give you information of what to do to get ready for your session.

I collaborated with a company that specializes in making baby blankets that say "I am enough". Here is a quote from the owner of the company explaining why she chose to make the blankets. "For our children to grow up knowing they are enough. They are smart enough, beautiful enough, brave enough and strong enough. For this next generation to grow to be fierce and confident, with dreams and aspirations. Our blanket is a daily reminder that all children deserve to feel strong. Strong enough to be themselves, to speak their minds and to try new things, even if they may fall." In an upcoming blog post I will be sharing the heartwarming and special stories of what makes these little ones truely one of a kind.

I also had the opportunity to photograph some expectant mommas & their sweet families!

I cannot wait to share more images and details regarding these spring sessions!

One day Soon You're Going To Miss This; Newtown, Connecticut Photographer

We all hear friends, family and everyone else & their brother say the saying "Time flies." I will be the first to admit I thought that quote was silly and I always thought to myself I will never say that...until mid-April five years ago.

The very day I became an Aunt to two little girls was the day I admited I learned that time indeed flies by us and there isn't much you can do to slow it down.

When I was growing up, I had a lot of things prepared in my head how I would think life would go and who I thought I would be as I got older including the type of Aunt I thought I would be. I find it funny looking back now at how much my predictions have altered.

I did not see myself being such a sappy Aunt. I always knew that I would love to be an Aunt as I always have loved being around children, but something inside of me changed the moment I found out my sister was having twins.

  • I was/am always impatiently waiting for the next visit
  • Wanting updated photos and videos daily
  • Always wanting to facetime when driving to them wasn't feasible
  • Crying at old videos/photos when they were babies

I wish we had the power to slow down time so we could absorb all the little moments of their lives, but I am just trying to do my best of being present in their lives and spending all the time I can when they are still little. Some moments aren't easy or perfect with having little ones, but one day soon I will look back upon when they were 5 and miss it all. I will keep on photographing them and be documenting all the moments I can look upon when they are grown.

As they become older, there are certain moments in a child's life that we find ourselves more prepared for them to grow out of than other moments.  We are not always willing to let go of the little things such as, that they might be too big to carry, that they are too cool to give kisses goodbye or too big to hold our hands. We want them to grow up strong, but it can be a bittersweet time and can be hard to let go of particular things. I used to love holding both of my nieces in my arms when I would visit them, but as they grew and grew that became impossible for me to carry two at the same time. Now I know that they are getting too big for me to hold and soon this will be a thing of the past that I will have to look back through photos to remember.

Now if only I could learn how to make time slow down...

Mother and Daughter

Are you curious how my clients feel after the session?

I would love to give you a different point of view and give you the opportunity to hear from a past client. Below is a little Q & A with a momma of 6 from a recent session of mine.

Newtown Ct Family Photographer Kendra Conroy Photography

"Did you have a positive experience during the session?"

Working with Kendra was a great experience, she didn't rush, and Marin didn't fuss at all. The location that Kendra chose was beautiful too.

"What is your favorite quality in your youngest child, Marin? "

Marin has an infectious smile; you can’t help but smile when she does. She is such a happy baby. Her whole face lights up, and she is so proud of everything she does (you can see that in the image below)

"When looking back on your session what does it make you feel?"
How important it is to treasure every moment; time goes by so fast!  It’s bittersweet really; I wish I had done photo shoots like this with all of my kids.

"What do you want to remember when looking back on these images?"

The beautiful day in early March, just me & my baby girl. The peacefulness and purity of being in nature. How tiny and innocent she was.

Final Thoughts from Kendra:

I often encourage both moms and dads to get in the frame with their little ones; I find it to be a vital task in life to be present in photos with your children. I want parents to look back on their images as memories and treasure them.  We all know life moves by us much faster than we expect and we do not have the power to go back in time, but we do have the ability to relive a time when looking back on photos.  If you want to make everlasting memories with your children, book a session with me, please be sure to email Kendra@kendraconroy.com to plan your special session today!

Location, location, location

Locations are very important for my family sessions. I find tha the setting for the session can help tell a story by highlighting the beauty that surrounds us each and every day.

Each person has a particular place in their mind that is their happy place, the place that makes them feel alive. The type of location it varies for each person, it could be the woods, the ocean, the mountains or even in their own home.

When I choose locations for sessions I look for both quiet, but unique places. I feel like these places give both myself and my clients the desire to explore and discover our surroundings.

Do you ever go a new place and instantly feel a particular way?

Does it...

  • Makes your heart happy?
  • Give you the desire to explore?

  • Does it set you free? Or does it make you feel at peace?
  • Does it make you dream of your own future?

Well, I do multiple times a month actually. This particular day was mid-March and winter was making me feel a tad stir crazy. I just felt the need to see spring so after seeing a Tulip Event in Hartford listed on my Instagram page, I packed up the car and just left with my nieces for a day trip.

Long road trips with children can be a huge gamble. You can never really predict their moods and they could just break down with a loud cry in front of a crowd of people or they could be perfect little angels. You just never really know...

You express to yourself, it could be a HUGE fail

it could be a grand adventure.

This road trip was a risk I was willing to take to see spring weather for a day. I am happy to report that in this trip we all made it out alive thanks to snacks and portable drawing pads.

May there be more grand adventures in our future!

Winter through a child's eye

Lets go back down memory lane for a minute or two. Do you remember winter days when you were a little kid?

I remember winter days during my childhood as magical and such a fun experience.  Depending on where you grew up you probably spent the majority of your time outside just playing in the snow.

The day of the snowstorm and the day after was always such an exciting time, you didn't even know what to do first. The first few minutes you walk outside your front door you have a look of amazement and just observe the beauty around you.

You spent some time playing detective trying to identify what kind of animal made the tracks in the snow. You also made your own tracks along the fresh snow.

You probably spent sometime playing along with your siblings and just being silly together. Tag teaming in making snowmen together, making snow angels and maybe having a little snowball fight against each other.

With another snowstorm on the way here is a reminder to go be a kid at heart and have fun during this storm!
